The art of Capodimonte, or "Top of the Hill, originated in 1734 by Charles of Bourbon, son of King Philip V of Spain. In 1743, the porcelain works was moved to a factory in Royal Wood of Capodimonte. Today, Capodimonte is made by various fine porcelain manufacturers. Capodimonte is characterized by the quality of porcelain and its ornate detailing that reflect Victorian and Italian home decor.
